Golden Paragraph: Yan Ostrovski is a PhD student in Prof’s Sznitman’s lab in the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology. His primary research activity is targeted delivery in the lungs using magnetic particles. In collaboration with other Siminhale members, Yan is using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations and discrete element method (DEM) to model the behavior of inhaled magnetic particles on different scales in the lung. These simulations are then used to design in-vitro system. 3d printed models are used to study the behavior of magnetic particles in the upper airways. Whereas Microfluidic chips are used to study the particle dynamics in alveolar geometries on a true physiological scale.
