Golden Paragraph: Full Professor at the Heat and Mass Transfer Technological Centre (CTTC), of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya – BarcelonaTech (UPC). He has conducted research in more than 30 relevant financially supported projects about mathematical modelling and optimisation of thermal systems and equipment. Co-ordinator of five different European projects about heat exchangers, refrigeration, heat storage, concentrated solar power (CSP), etc., being computational fluid dynamics an essential tool of analysis. These projects solve the multi-physic and multi-scale problems related to their thermal and fluid dynamic behaviour. As an example, the EFROST project on complex thermal systems and airflow management, and the TESCONSOL project regarding thermal energy storage systems in CSP plants. Research is concentrated on two main lines: i) basic aspects related to the numerical simulation and experimental validation of heat and mass transfer problems (turbulence modelling, radiation, two-phase flows, combustion, high performance computing, etc.); ii) applied aspects related to the thermal and fluid dynamic analysis of a wide range of situations. He has been author or co-author of over 230 publications in international journals and congresses. Supervisor of 21 Ph.D. Thesis.
