Golden Paragraph: Prof. Joaquim Rigola holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering (UPC, 2003). He is researcher and promoter of the Heat and Mass Transfer Technological Center (CTTC) and Dr. Ing. Agregate Professor at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya – Barcelona Tech (UPC). Ha has more than 20 years working in heat and mass transfer phenomena analysis, numerical simulation models and experimental test facilities. His main research interest are related to numerical simulation of liquid-vapour (condensation and evaporation) and solid-liquid (Phase Change Material) multi-phase flow, and object oriented modular modelling of thermal systems and equipment (with special focus on HVAC&R cycles in general and compressors in particular). Prof. Rigola has conducted research in 47 relevant financially supported projects: coordinating 3 basic research national projects; participating in 19 national competitive projects (8 as research coordinator), 14 EU financially supported projects (6 as research coordinator) and 11 projects with national and international industrial partners (5 as project coordinator). Supervisor of 8 Ph.D. Thesis, and is author of 25 papers in JCR journals, about 90 contributions to peer-reviewed international conferences and 5 patents. At this moment he is the project coordinator of EFFAN Clean Sky project. He is also professor at different KIC Masters and the thermal engineering doctorate program at UPC. h index = 9 (source: Scopus database).
