Golden Paragraph: Laura is a Research Fellow in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Imperial College London. Her research activity focuses on bio-fluid mechanics, in particular flow and aerosol deposition in the respiratory airways and the development of numerical algorithms for high-fidelity, large-scale computations of complex physiological flows. Laura’s interests within pulmonary drug delivery include flow and aerosol optimisation in order to minimise extrathoracic losses, patient- and class-specific prediction/optimisation of drug delivery, and paediatrics. In collaboration with other SimInhale members, Laura is currently investigating the effect of the extrathoracic airways on intrathoracic deposition, and examining the use of different numerical methods for prediction of flow and aerosol deposition in the airways.
